Happy Saturday and February 29th!!
You guys, I have been dying to write this post!! But, I’ll blame a 9 week old ADORABLE puppy named Sully on my delay 😉 While he is adorable, I will say, puppies are officially more difficult than newborns!! At least you can put a diaper on a newborn and put it down for a nap…hahaha. Hopefully the “newborn” period will be much shorter for Sully than it was for my kids, haha.
I made this Valentine’s Day Candy Charcuterie Board for Chandler’s 1st grade Valentine’s Day party. It was a HIT…and I am sure you can imagine why, hahaha.
I basically grabbed some Valentine’s Day goodies each time I was in the grocery store…1 or 2 things at a time. And, we used extra hershey kisses and MnMs from the girls’ Valentines so I don’t consider buying “extra” for those items.
I started by placing the 2 heart shaped ramekins and the round ramekin where I wanted them and worked around them.
I then worked with the biggest items – the heart peeps and the heart cookies. I choose to put the conversation hearts in the middle because they are such a Valentine’s Day staple. I also thought the cinnamon lips were such a fun addition (and if you love cinnamon, they are GOOD!!) I added in some raspberries for a tiny bit of healthy goodness 😉 But the bottom line, there are no rules, you do what works and honestly, what you think looks best. My only “rule” is I prefer to have as little of the board showing as possible.
AND, I have learned how to transport this once it is made 🙂 I use a heavy dose of Glad Press N Seal and it is pretty darn secure!!
If you have been following me for at least the last year, you know I don’t buy my cutting boards from anywhere but through my cousin, Mike Boswell. His craftsmanship is incredible and the fact that each is handmade, made locally and by family makes them pretty priceless. And, he can make pretty much anything you have in mind. I highly recommend him over the big stores, but if you prefer ordering, I have listed 4 I really liked from Williams-Sonoma
