Being the month and now the WEEK of THANKS, I wanted to share something the Johnston gang have been doing for the last 3 months. I listened to a podcast by Oprah where she was interviewing Sheryl Sandberg after the unexpected loss of her husband (hear it here) and boy did it stick with me. One of the things Sheryl said after going through that terrible loss was that she started keeping a gratitude journal, writing 3 things in it every night to remind herself that even though things were hard, she had so much to be thankful for. Crazy inspiring, right!?!?
These are our journals, I grabbed them one day at Target (somehow I got the unicorn one on the far right, hahaha). There are cute ones on Amazon too – this one is great, this one is so perfect for kids. And, I love the Simply Grateful one Matti Jane uses.
But, the SWEETEST thing is, Shay and Peter especially are so into it. Shay will not even get into bed until it is done. It is usually about a sports team winning, baking on Fridays at school or Daddy being home to tuck him in. I MEAN!!! And Peter says, even after a super stressful day, it is such a great way to think of so many awesome things to go to bed on.
