Last weekend, Peter and I were in Colorado without the kids. He was there for a work event and I got to tag along 🙂 We just LOVE it in Colorado…and in the Summer, it’s possibly even better than in the Winter.
The meetings were held in Breckenridge and it’s just the cutest little mountain town ever. I was able to sleep in, relax and explore the little town while Peter was in meetings in the mornings. Breckinridge is about a 2 hour drive up the mountains from Denver where we flew in, so we rented a Jeep Wrangler (we thought that was very Colorado-y, hahaha) and took in the amazing views on the drive up. I honestly do not think anyone could ever tire of these amazing views!!
This was the view right outside of our hotel. Pretty breathtaking, right?!?!
So, if you know me is to love me, right?!?! hahaha My personality may or may not do a drastic change if I am cold. Like, I am not nice 🙁 So, prepared is what I was!! The first day, Friday, it was actually fairly chilly most of the day. By chilly I mean mid 60’s. Which to Peter, is heavenly.
I purchased this cardigan last year and it’s one of my go-to’s when I need a top layer. Plus I am totally digging the subtle western/mountain vibe it has with the black stitching detail. AND, can you believe I am rocking Birkenstocks?!?! I really wanted a white pair with gold buckles & the only pair available in my size was these with the fun shiny snakeskin pattern…so fun & keeping me young 😉
Saturday, after the AM meetings, Peter was done and ready to do some major exploring with me. We took a gondola ride up to Peak 8 in Grand Colorado and ate at Robbie’s Tavern. I highly recommend the Mountain Margaritas 🙂
We were planning on doing the alpine sled, in line with wristbands and darn it, lightening hit somewhere close and they closed down the mountain, as well as the gondola 🙁 Mother Nature had different plans. So, we decided to head back to Denver and check out the downtown area instead. (our flight was at 830 AM on Sunday, so we wanted to be close to the airport versus hightailing it down the mountains on Sunday morning 😉 )
We checked into our hotel and heading to Larimer Square. Such a cute area with great boutiques and restaurants. I have been wanting a western-y hat for a while. No luck in Breckenridge but hit the jackpot in Denver!! I’ll be rocking it on the blog in the near future!!
We had dinner reservations at Edge Restaurant but stopped at Osteria Marco for an appetizer…our favorite, an amazing charcuterie board!! They had me with their house made burrata. And wine 😉
Shockingly, we were 30 minutes early for our dinner reservation so we went outside and took a couple pictures. How handsome is Peter here?!?!
Dinner selfie 🙂
