Chandler turned 6 years old on Monday, September 3. She wanted another pool party with all of her friends, so that was what was planned. It would be the last Friday of the pool season, so the timing worked out perfectly. And from an adult/parent point of view, a great way to kick off Labor Day Weekend. And then, the weather 🙁 It kept changing from cloudy to rainy to super rainy. When it went from a 60-80% chance of rain, I didn’t feel like I had a choice, I had to move the party to an indoor location. And, being that we have no kitchen, a commercial size dumpster and porta-potty in our driveway, our house was not an option.
That is how Plan B – Pump It Up, came about. Lucky for us they had almost the exact same time slot available as I had originally scheduled the pool party. To be completely honest, I was NOT excited about the change, I was looking forward to time at the pool with friends (all the parents) and driving 45 minutes away was not ideal. But, because Chandler has amazing friends and they have amazing families, everyone was still able to make it and it was a GREAT party!!
Monday was Chandler’s actual birthday. Peter and I really struggled on what to get her as a gift this year. She is not riding a bike without training wheels yet so something cool and fun like the razor motorized motorcyle would not be appropriate. And while she is obsessed with “squishies” and LOL’s and fingerlings, we were not buying her any of that!!
Peter and the kids (not me!!) have been discussing getting a puppy lately. I personally am not ready for one…I know where the majority of the responsibility will lie (insert hand raised emoji!!) and until our entire home is back to normal, I cannot handle that huge change. There had also been brief discussions here and there about a fish, and while I had always brushed it aside, I actually thought, now would be the perfect time for a fish.
Chandler is mature enough for the responsibility of feeding a fish each day and she loves animals. It was perfect!! We have had her for 2 weeks now, and “Princess” is still alive, and thriving, to be honest with you!! Chandler could not have been happier.
We also gave Chandler a charm bracelet with lots of fun charms that she and Matti Jane had spotted at Nordstrom a couple months ago. I think the fish won in regards to excitement level!!
On Monday, Matti Jane was the first one awake (as usual!) and could not wait to make Chandler breakfast in bed – waffles covered in Nutella!!
We asked Chandler how she wanted to spend HER day. She told us – time at the park, ice cream from Bruesters, lunch out and dinner at Capt Johns for crabs. Her little heart was full by the end of the day!!
