Is anyone else constantly on the struggle train when it comes to giving birthday gifts for kids?? I want to give QUALITY gifts that the parents aren’t annoyed with and the kids will not be over in 2 1/2 days. I struggle majorly. So I have decided to to try and give experiences instead of “things” when I can.
My family has enjoyed the Calvert Marine Museum since we moved here in 2007. It has something for all ages, including adults!! The kids favorite part is the Otter exhibition, they are kind of the Museum’s mascot. It’s adorable!!
So, when I was there a couple of weeks ago for a fun date with Shay and needed to renew my membership, I saw the box on the form that said “give as a gift” and I thought…DONE!! I had my nieces baptism coming up, and besides a personalized rosary, I wanted to give them something they could enjoy as a family. The family membership costs $60, but if you are giving for a special occasion, more than one child like I did this time and take in mind, it’s for an entire year, it makes such a great gift.
If you know me, you know I get very excited about presentation. I wanted to get my nieces something they could actually hold and hopefully snuggle with. I saw the otter stuffed animals in the museum’s gift shop (with my members’ 10% discount!!) and I needed to add one touch – a pink personalized bow. Now, it’s PERFECT!!
Even if you are not local, use this idea with a museum or place close to you. You are not only giving a great gift, but supporting local businesses – WIN/WIN
The paper shred and cardboard box are from Hobby Lobby. And, Alicia from Busy Bee Boutique did the custom bows for me 🙂
Stay tuned, next Wednesday, I will do a gift idea for older toddlers – ages 5-7ish.

Tiffani, These cute and practical gift ideas are awesome! On Poshmark I was reading how you package and send your items to buyers. Their comments are always about your beautiful presentation and the cute thank you cards. Can you post a photo of what you do to make them so special when mailing an item? I am going to start listing on this site and would love to receive the great reviews that are given to you with each purchase. ❤️

Thank you again Janis!!! You are always so positive and I adore it. I simply put a double layer of white tissue around the clothing, use a ribbon that I collected from a gift already received and use one of my personalized stationary and say “I hope you enjoy this “whatever the piece is” and sign my name. It literally takes me 90 extra seconds to do, but I think it sends a message that I took time to put this together. I will definitely send you a picture of the next piece I sell 🙂

This is such a great idea. I love coming up with personalized and specialized gifts as well. I hope your nieces whole family gets to enjoy the Museum, plus with summer coming up they have so many great events going on. Hopefully we’ll get to go to more this year as well. Oh and don’t forget with your membership you also get to purchase tickets to concert early as well. Win Win for parents as well.

I totally left that part out and that is SO IMPORTANT!!! That is what prompted us to renew our membership this year, the Brad Paisley concert!!!
