Sunday, September 17th was the big day before the real BIG DAY 🙂 Colleen’s Bridal Shower.
Colleen’s bridesmaids and myself (the matron of honor) had been communicating for a couple months about the plans. We decided to have the shower in Colleen’s hometown since the wedding, Bengali ceremony and reception will be in Washington DC and then Arlington, VA. We agreed on a date and decided on a Bubbly and Brunch theme.
Colleen, looked STUNNING…she was literally glowing the entire afternoon. Her dress was classy yet modern with the ruffle and small cut out. Her shoes are TO DIE FOR. The mauve-y toe was the perfect pop of color and texture.
We had so much fun with the decorations. We centered the Bubbly/Mimosa Bar over my sequin table cloth. Too much bling is never a bad thing 😉 We filled the flutes with custom straws. The bubbly was housed in a Mark & Graham Champagne bowl that was custom with Colleen and Ahmed’s initials and was later given them to a shower gift.
There were also fresh strawberries, blackberries and raspberries to top your Mimosa.

We used Puccini Prosecco from Wine Decadence by Ali for the Mimosas…SO YUMMY!!
The welcome sign was ordered through Etsy (and printed at Staples) and was the perfect accessory to welcome all the friends and family coming to see Colleen.
Colleen R, one of Colleen’s bridesmaids and best girlfriend took the lead on the food. The spread was truly perfect…enough for everyone and the variety was delicious. Frittatas, homemade muffins, a french toast bake, vegetable salads, chicken salad on croissants, a yogurt bar and so much more was served!!
The flowers…oooohhhh, the flowers. Kathy from Scarborough Farms certainly hit every floral arrangement out of the park. I had given Kathy Colleen’s wedding day floral mood board and she took it from there. Each arrangement was unique and OF COURSE Kathy brilliantly tied in the champagne theme. The food table/main arrangement was in a large champagne bucket. There were other smaller arrangements in flutes as well as mini champagne bottles. I mean, I DIE over those thoughtful touches!!!
My Mom came up with an amazingly sweet and thoughtful poem. The poems were placed on the chargers over the personalized napkins with a sprig of rosemary. At first I wasn’t sure that I was a fan of the almost “Christmas-y” look it took, then I realized that the reds and greens and golds will be a part of the actual wedding in December. BINGO!!
We had so much fun with the photo frame. It was a fun activity during the shower. Everyone got an opportunity to take a picture with the bride-to-be, even Matti Jane 🙂 (A special shoutout to Lea from Words and Confetti for being patient and helping with my technical incompetences!!)
Another bit of fun was a Date Night Jar. This was a Pinterest find and I’ll say it was a #pinterestwin. Colleen and Ahmed read the ideas after the shower and they were AWESOME (as I totally eavesdropped #guilty) Although, albeit biased, my favorite was “take Matti Jane to the movies”…in what I would call a 1st graders handwriting 😉
Colleen received so many gorgeous and practical bridal shower gifts. I have to admit, my Mom and I certainly got a chuckle in that A LOT were kitchen gadgets. We just hope all the new shiny, useful items will be put to good use…one day. Colleen, will be the first to admit, she is not the chef in the family 😉 Colleen, we love you!!
One last final memory from the special day are these 4 little angels… Marlee and Sufia are still pretty young, but Matti Jane and Chandler truly understood they were at a big girl, very fancy party and loved every. second. of. it.
