Where to even begin?!?! I went to Fashion Week last year for less than 24 hours and because it was such a whirlwind, I did not write a post. This trip was SO EXCITING, I could not wait to tell you guys about it!! So, that is also the reason I am titling it 2.0 😉
I will start by saying that if I had not made a room commitment with another gal, I probably would not have gone this past weekend. I know, you’re asking “WHY?!?!” But, Moms out there, I am sure you get it…the coordination and anxiety that comes before you leave makes it almost not worth going…BUT then you go and it is SO WORTH GOING!!!
I left on Thursday afternoon and headed up to the Big Apple!! Almost a year ago, I attended a VA/DC/MD bloggers brunch and met some awesome gals. I have kept in touch with most of them, but Stefana (from Stefana Silber Blog…CHECK HER OUT on Facebook and Instagram as well!!) and I never lost touch and decided to room together for NYFW. She lives in Hartford County, MD, so I told her if she could get to an exit right off of 95, she had a ride. It worked out PERFECTLY!! Except for the part when we were chatting so much we missed one exit and took a joyride through Philly 😉
We woke up on Friday AM, headed outside and took outfit pictures for an “urban feel”. Stefana lives in a rural area as well, so it was so FUN for both of us. Just to get a yellow cab in the background…pretty darn exciting!!
Here is a sneak peak as I will do a full post on each outfit 🙂
Then we headed to our first show – Galtiscopio
So ridiculously COOL!! The show opened with a super energetic rap act and closed with another!!
The line was fun, modern and actually wearable. The backs were STUNNING.
Before the next show, Stefana and I had a moment to grab lunch. We spotted a great Mexican restaurant…tacos and margaritas it was!!
Vaishali was the 3 PM show on Friday afternoon.
Another show that was incredible!! This line is very interesting to me…it marries traditional Indian wear with a contemporary and modern attitude. Gorgeous materials, beautiful lines and amazingly feminine.
We headed back to the hotel to get ready for the Style Collective Party at 6 PM. Style Collective is a blogging community that I joined when I first began blogging over a year ago. It is a network for female fashion influencers to connect, grow and learn how to be successful influencers and entrepreneurs. The party was high class and it was fun to meet so many “virtual” friends face to face.
Stefana and I had fun rocking the red lips together…it’s always fun to twinsie!! I wore the Ivory lace dress from this post. The food was great, the Rose was yummy and we loved the custom gifts 🙂
Saturday, we chose to only do 1 show. I had the Reward Style Party that evening and there was no point in crashing around. Plus, it gave Stefana and I some time to explore the city!!
Again, we began the morning doing some urban shots in our outfits.
We attended the Runa Ray show at Noon. This designer actually presses many species of plants and foliage on the various fabrics and hand embroidery throughout skirts and bodices. The billowy fit and drapy-ness of the fabrics give a whimsical feel to the line. Runa Ray’s message is to take a step back and appreciate what nature has to offer. That is clear in her fashion line!!
While exploring the city, we checked out the Banana Republic Presentation.
And then we did an impromptu duo shoot…so glad we did!! Talk about unintentional coordinating!!
I met a couple new friends before heading to the Reward Style Party so that I had a girl tribe to walk in with. Talk about intimidating…walking into an amazingly decorated room (think NYC chic!), fantastic music pumping and gorgeous women everywhere.
Before we walked in, we took some shots outside.
This is Jean from Elegant Edge and Tatiana from Fashion by Tati B. Follow them!!
My FAVORITE part of the night was the 360 mannequin stand. It was nice to have to loosen up (errr, perhaps stiffen up ;-)) and be silly as soon as you walked in!!
(If you are familiar with the Liketoknow.it logo, you’ll notice what is behind me :-))
After an incredible two days at NYFW, it was time to head home to see my babes (in sneakers and Lululemon!!). But, what an AMAZING experience!!
Until next time…
