Today is my tenth edition in My Friday Favorites in Southern Maryland Series. Anyone that knows me, knows how much this particular Friday Favorite means to me. One of my DEAREST girlfriends, Nicole Magee, officially opened her brick and mortar fitness studio last Saturday, September 2nd, SPICE Studio.
This story began 5 years ago. It started in Nicole’s basement, the courtyards in her neighborhood, local parks and now, she has moved her studio to the square in downtown Leonardtown. Nicole’s gift for motivation and education evolved into a fitness career as she became an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and founded SPICE Fitness. SPICE (Strong People Incorporating Changes Everyday) has been a true passion of hers and come a long way over the last 5 years.
What she has done inside the downtown studio is truly an extension of her home.
GORGEOUS…light and bright!!
Notice the round table, it is a phone charging station…while you recharge 😉
Nicole provides towels and even extra hair ties in case you forgot yours. I cannot even count the amount of times that used to happen to me when I was going to the gym straight from work…
Even the potty room is pretty!!
I have taken many classes from Nicole. Now, I know she is my best friend so you’re thinking I am completely biased, but please take my word…Nicole has an intangible quality that you cannot teach. She is so amazing and natural when she teaches any fitness class. She LOVES what she does and takes a genuine interest in each of her clients.
Nicole is, however, aware that she cannot be an expert in everything she wants to offer at the studio. She took A LOT of time interviewing and hiring instructors that are truly experts in what they teach. You can read about each instructor in the Mindbody app where you sign up to reserve your spot in a class. You can create an account here to do sign up for any classes at SPICE Studio and learn about pricing and membership.
SPICE Studio offers Barre, Pilates, Yoga, Circuit Training, H.I.I.T., health coaching, a Leonardtown walking group and Dance. Find a list of all classes and time here.
Nicole has created this sense of true, genuine sisterhood. When you arrive, you may feel nervous, but you leave feeling confident and craving the next class. SPICE Studio is a judge-free zone. That is priceless.
SPICE Studio is also a family affair. For me personally, it has been hard supporting my best friend’s business. I still have young babies that stay home with me (now part-time!!) but preventing me from attending classes because she did not offer child care (understandably!!). Now that Nicole is downtown, SPICE Studio has partnered with Yellow Door Art Studio and you and drop your kids off just a block away and they can get creative while your get your sweat on!!! You are able to purchase a 5-punch pass for Arts for Tots for $40 (expires 3 months from date of purchase) and drop your kids off on Friday mornings 8-930 AM or 930-11 AM as well as Saturday mornings from 845-1015 AM. Peter and I are definitely going to enjoy a great Barre class together on Saturday mornings!!
Also, Saturday mornings, enjoy Family Affair on the Square. Drop the kids off at Yellow Door or Crazy for Ewe while your work out and afterwards head to BTB or one of the Square’s other great eateries for lunch or a smoothie!!
So, basically I am totally biased, but once meeting Nicole, taking one of her classes and visiting her studio, you will be as well.
STAY CONNECTED…so many exciting things to come!!
