Besides my 3 amazing littles!! Do you remember my post from here?? I was very overwhelmed…the kids schedules getting busier, my house getting messier and my desire to cook healthy meals basically dwindled. I desperately needed to change my mindset as I am a very positive person and hated the way I was feeling. I needed a change…
The last couple months I have taken time to reflect on what keeps me sane and will continue to do so to get me through the upcoming hectic months of school beginning and Fall sports. Soccer actually began last night for Matti Jane and tomorrow for Chandler…YIKES…I don’t recall it starting so early for me. But, it is what it is and I am accepting it so much better than I did back in May.
There are 3 things I have noticed gives me a refreshing breath and helps me keep my stress down a bit and my head up a tad higher.
Number 1…making my bed each morning.
This truly helps me. Have you guys read The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Maria Kondo?? Honestly, I started it and didn’t finish, but I got the jist of it. Her main message is…if it doesn’t give you JOY, get rid of it. At first, that sounded so cheesy and not applicable to real life but now I get it. When I walk into my bedroom and my bed is not made, there is just an uneasy feeling that comes over me. When I walk in and it is made, there is truly a feeling of joy that takes over. Whether it is a feeling of accomplishment or just pretty organization, I love it. That feeling gives me the energy each morning to make my bed. And, let’s be honest, sometimes we are running late to the gym or camp and cannot get to it, but as soon as I get home, I make it.
Number 2…setting my clothes out the night before.
As you can imagine, I think about clothes a lot 😉 So, in the mornings, if I don’t know what I am wearing, I waste so much time thinking about it. I think about it for 2 seconds the night before, lay it out on my bathroom bench and I save a lot of time and unnecessary stress each morning. Even my gym clothes, if it is laid out, it is one less thing I have to think about when packing book bags, making lunches and getting 3 little sets of teeth brushed.
Number 3…having my nails painted.
So, you may think this sounds superficial but it makes me feel better, so I am totally ok admitting it. Personally, for whatever reason, my nails collect dirt under them. I keep them super short so I have no idea why, but they do and I think it’s GROSS. I tried keeping them natural with no polish or even just clear on them, but all you see is dirt. So, having painted nails (whether it’s done by me or having them done at a salon) makes me feel good and gets me through the day.

Do you have small tricks that help you each day?? I am all ears and willing to try anything to preserve my sanity 😉

I am all about picking out my outfit the night before!! Such a time saver!! And I usually try to pick out all of my outfits for the work week on Sunday so I don’t have to worry about it for the rest of the week!!

I completely agree. If we take just a couple of minutes AHEAD OF TIME it saves time and that bit of stress when you cannot find exactly what you’re looking for!! I have started putting my outfit idea in my phone under each event I have coming up…regardless of how casual!!
