The Kennedy Center - The Sound of Music

The Girls at The Kennedy Center

Two Wednesdays ago, Peter and I took the girls to see The Sound of Music at The Kennedy Center.  I was SO EXCITED to take the girls.  This was their first trip to the theatre and it proved to be just as magical as I imagined.

Matti Jane is 6 1/2 and Chandler is 4 1/2.  I will say, it was the perfect age for Matti Jane, she enjoyed every second of the show and could sit still the whole time.  Chandler had A LOT of questions during the show…mostly “when can we go on stage?” and “when is intermission?” because she knew intermission = snacks.  Chandler ended up falling asleep in the middle of the second half, but that was to be expected, it was a late night.

We started by having dinner at the KC Cafe.  It is cafeteria style and since we were delayed because of missing a couple turns, it was perfect for us.  We had a moment to step outside and look at the city (and take some pictures too!!).

The girls were so excited and couldn’t stop smiling.  They love dressing up and loved the “fanciness” of this event.

I did get them special dresses for the occasion…I wanted to make it extra special for them 🙂
